they were shot in Kuils River on Tuesday 21 June.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.netwerk24.com\/netwerk24\/za\/tygerburger\/nuus\/two-shop-assistants-killed-in-kuils-river-20220621\">reported by&nbsp;<\/a><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.netwerk24.com\/netwerk24\/za\/tygerburger\/nuus\/two-shop-assistants-killed-in-kuils-river-20220621\">TygerBurger<\/a>, <\/em>police responded to a shooting at a cell phone shop on Van Riebeeck Road at approximately 14:15 which left two shop assistants killed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Further information confirmed two suspects were caught in a nearby area after fleeing the scene on bicycles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Later on Tuesday evening local ward councillor Wouter de Vos said in a video message metro police got issued with a description of the suspects and gave chase. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cShortly thereafter two men \u2013 aged 21 and 20 \u2013 were apprehended, found in possession of firearms and ammunition.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div contenteditable=\"false\" data-embed24=\"Custom\" data-pos=\"middle\" id=\"embed_b5f25e0b\">\n<div class=\"custom\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"591\" scrolling=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?height=476&amp;href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fward11capetown%2Fvideos%2F441973830724205%2F&amp;show_text=true&amp;width=269&amp;t=0\" style=\"border:none;overflow:hidden;\" width=\"269\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Station commander of Kuils River police, Col Jayce Naidoo said on Wednesday morning the conclusion can\u2019t be made that it was a foiled robbery. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe can say it was a double murder that took place,\u201d Naidoo said the two victims (foreign nationals) were both shot in the head, and nothing was stolen from the shop. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t have much detail yet as the investigation is still ongoing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said a description of the suspects was shared to various role players including police, metro police and the security cluster. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Naidoo added that a police helicopter was part of what he said was a well-orchestrated search which led to officers from metro police making the arrest. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Spokesperson of metro police, Ruth Solomons, said metro police officers were on patrol in the area around 14:25 when they received information \u201cabout an armed robbery\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey received a description of the suspects, and tracked them in Belhar Main Road, below the bridge leading to Sarepta.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe officers recovered a .38 special revolver with five used rounds and one live round of ammunition, as well as a blank firing pistol with four rounds in the suspects\u2019 possession.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Solomons said the officers were later informed the suspects are linked to \u201ca double murder at the Shoprite complex in the Kuils River
