Meetings have been set up with several ward councillors to discuss the informal trading plan in their areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The delay in the informal trading plan was one of the matters on the agenda at the Subcouncil 3 meeting held on Thursday last week in the Royal Ascot Council Chamber, Bridle Way in Milnerton. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Here Shirley Alexander, district area coordinator \u2013 area economic development department (north) \u2013 said she had set up a date with the respective ward councillors to discuss the plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She also mentioned that they had managed to set up a meeting date with the so-called \u201cevasive trader\u201d on Plattekloof Road and Rothschild Boulevard. The trader is trading in the area illegally. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The meeting date is set for 9 December with law enforcement and the Ward 1 councillor, Cheryl Visser, who indicated that she is glad the meeting is scheduled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Alexander said the traders along Plattekloof Road in Bothasig still remain an issue, while other traders infringe on the borders of Giel Basson Drive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Alexander has made contact with ward councillor Miquette Temlett to discuss the informal trading in her ward as well, which include Bothasig and Edgemead, to keep her up to date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cGenerally the other traders in this space are fairly good. We are monitoring it. The only thing is weekend traders who are still a concern for us, but law enforcement are keeping a close eye on it. We have unfortunately no compliance officers on call over weekends,\u201d said Alexander.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Ward 113 (Table View), compliance officers are still in the area conducting regular site visits. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A meeting has been set up with Joy Solomon, Ward Councillor, as well who indicated that some of the traders here \u201care definitely not compliant\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The meeting on Thursday last week was the last meeting for the year. The next meeting is scheduled for 19 January.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
