The blaze that broke out off Racecourse Road in Milnerton last week Monday took the City of Cape Town firefighters two days to extinguish. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fire and rescue service spokesperson Jermaine Carelse said the cause of the fire remains unclear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nearby reeds had been seen alight since 12:00 on Monday, according to social media posts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Carelse says they received a call at 13:35 on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis is an ongoing incident. No property is in danger or has been damaged,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A motorist Johan Pat says the traffic was a nightmare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019m just glad no one was hurt in the fire,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fire crews from Milnerton, Bellville, Brooklyn, Kraaifontein, Goodwood and Durbanville were on the scene with a total of five fire engines, two seasonal firefighter units (Bellville and Milnerton), a water tanker and two skid units.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
An Incident Management Team was also on scene to assist with operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
