The police and the community of Bonteheuwel are rejoicing after a gang shooting was foiled after a tip-off from the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Angus McKenzie, local ward councillor, says Bonteheuwel has yet again proven to be a benchmark for standing up against gangsters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe last few weeks have seen simmering tensions between rival gangs in the C Block of Bonteheuwel. However residents would have nothing of it. They fought back by making use of our tip-off service and relaying valuable and critical information to it. A number of gangsters were picked up, foiling an imminent shooting after information was provided of possible tension. A .38 special firearm and ammunition was also taken in by the policie,\u201d says Mckenzie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to McKenzie the community have for a long time been challenged to speak up against gangsters and slowly but surely that faith is paying dividends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Bishop Lavis police confirmed the arrests. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBishop Lavis vispol (visible policing) officers received information of firearms at a premises in Bonteheuwel. Upon their arrival at the premises in Citrus Road, the officers found some of the Fancy Boy gang members at the premises drinking. As they searched them they found a .38 special revolver with ten rounds of ammunition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
