The Ravensmead police say they are not seeing an escalation in public institutions being targeted in Ravensmead. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This follows after the Ravensmead Community Day Centre (CDC) was recently broken into.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Capt Odwa Makapula, spokesperson for the Ravensmead police, says they are aware of the break-in at the CDC. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe case is under investigation so I cannot say much more about it. But we have not seen a spike in attacks on public buildings. We are aware of other instances like for instance vandalism at the Florida Park Sports Complex, but that is another issue all together,\u201d says Makapula.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The provincial health department says they strongly condemn the break-in at the Ravensmead Community Day Centre (CDC). According to Shimonay Regter, spokesperson for the department, perpetrators gained entry to the building through the roof over the weekend of 25 to 26 March. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe building\u2019s roof and ceiling were damaged during the break-in. Three computers used to update folders and update patient information were stolen. We can assure our patients that service delivery will continue despite the incident. Patients may be issued with temporary folders, and we ask that you please bring your identity document\/passport, hospital card and your medication packet when visiting the clinic,\u201d says Regter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Regter notes that there may be a delay in services. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPlease note that you may experience a longer waiting time when visiting the administration office at the CDC due to the stolen computers. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience and understanding. Facility management is reviewing security measures to prevent further incidents. We urge our community to help us protect all health facilities by reporting any form of suspected vandalism or suspected acts of theft and criminality to the local police,\u201d says Regter.
