A man wanted for alleged production of child pornography and the rape of an 11-year-old girl in Victoria West in 2016, was captured in Kraaifontein on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to police spokesperson Capt Sergio Kock, the 42-year-old man, whose name is known to TygerBurger<\/em>, was scheduled to appear in the Victoria West District Court for the start of the hearing in 2020, but failed to appear, whereafter a warrant for his arrest was issued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOn the morning of the hearing he disappeared, and he has been on the run since then. Wanted posters was circulated far and wide by the police. It was a member of Brackenfell community police forum that saw the poster and started putting two and two together,\u201d a spokesperson at the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit in the Northern Cape told TygerBurger<\/em> today. <\/p>\n\n\n\n In a joint operation between private security company SJC\u2019s tactical unit and the City\u2019s law enforcement officers the man was arrested where he was hiding at a house in Hill Street, Kraaifontein.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe received the information on Wednesday morning and planned the operation with law enforcement to be executed on the same afternoon after obtaining the warrant of arrest,\u201d says managing director of SJC Charl du Toit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The suspect was handed over to Kraaifontein police after his arrest where he was detained while arrangements are being made to transfer him back to the Northern Cape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe scary fact is that this man has lived among us for three years and the possibility exists that he could have harmed other children during this time,\u201d says Du Toit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Mayco member for safety and security in the City of Cape Town, JP Smith hailed the role players involved in the arrest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe value of private security companies was again demonstrated in Kraaifontein last night. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Working closely with the neighbourhood watch, they narrowed in on a wanted suspect,\u201d said Smith.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSecurity companies much like neighbourhood watches are playing an increasing role in those wanted for crimes, In
