A human resources (HR) course initiated in Kraaifontein by non-profit Nostop in January, has surpassed all expectations with 115 young people having completed their training, many of whom secured opportunities in the field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nostop founder, Charlene Miles says this programme is a staggering success and has garnered overwhelming interest and participation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt has seen an unprecedented number of applicants since its inception,\u201d she says. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The three-day training course is aimed at empowering disadvantaged, unemployed youth and presented in collaboration with the Department of Labour in Bellville and non-profit YoungPeople@Work, an organisation for unemployed, disadvantaged young adults. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It provides students seeking a career in HR with essential skills and knowledge. Furthermore, the programme facilitates bursaries to participants that were once beyond their reach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Miles says the investment in the potential of these young people has yielded remarkable outcomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The workshop contributes to getting youth employed in several ways. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Firstly, it provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of HR principles, practices and industry trends making them more attractive to potential employees. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The course also offers free psychometric testing and job shadow opportunities to enhance the employability of youth in the job market,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWith a class that is consistently full month after month, it is evident that the human resources course has struck a chord with aspiring HR professionals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe enthusiasm and dedication shown by the students have been both inspiring and humbling to the organisers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe never thought that there would be such an overwhelming response. It is heartening to witness the determination and eagerness of these people to build a better future for themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In response to the overwhelming interest, the organisers have expanded their efforts to accommodate more participants and recently introduced a pilot programme via WhatsApp training, while plans are underway to launch an online version of the course, enabling students from all corners of the country to benefit from the opportunity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
