{"id":48840,"date":"2023-11-21T15:08:49","date_gmt":"2023-11-21T13:08:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/tygerburger\/brackenfell-teen-escapes-abductors-after-sexual-assault-20231121\/"},"modified":"2025-03-19T22:51:33","modified_gmt":"2025-03-19T20:51:33","slug":"brackenfell-teen-escapes-abductors-after-sexual-assault-20231121","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/tygerburger\/brackenfell-teen-escapes-abductors-after-sexual-assault-20231121\/","title":{"rendered":"Brackenfell teen escapes abductors after sexual assault"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A teenage girl miraculously escaped her three abductors after being grabbed off the street in Brackenfell in the early evening of Sunday 19 November.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Brackenfell CPF confirmed Brackenfell police and the Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit were currently investigating the matter.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The girl sustained scratches and bruising on her body and is severely traumatised.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>A teenage girl miraculously escaped her three abductors<br>\nafter being grabbed off the street in Brackenfell in the early evening of<br>\nSunday 19 November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In an ordeal that seemed endless the 15-year-oldl, whose<br>\nidentity is being protected, jumped out of the car after being sexually<br>\nassaulted by one of the men.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She left her home in Shiraz Street, Protea Heights<br>\nmomentarily when the incident occurred around 18:00.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cShe just went outside to go call her little sister, who was<br>\nplaying at a neighbour\u2019s house, for supper,\u201d her legal guardian told<br>\nTygerBurger. \u201cShe didn\u2019t see her [little sister] and walked back down the road.<br>\nThis is when it happened. One of the men walked past her in the street, first<br>\ngreeted her and then turned around and came up behind her. He grabbed her and<br>\ndragged her to a car that pulled up. She was then shoved into the back of the<br>\nvehicle and her mouth gagged. It is when the car neared a stop street that she managed to free herself<br>\nby opening the door and jumping out.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cShe ran down the street towards the house of a family<br>\nfriend to seek help, when a man stopped to help her,\u201d the guardian and family<br>\nmember said. \u201cShe was hysterical and in a bad state when we rushed her to<br>\nhospital.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The girl sustained scratches and bruising on her body and is<br>\nseverely traumatised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cShe wakes up shaking in bed at night and has extreme night<br>\nterrors. She is currently receiving trauma counselling. I too am still in a<br>\nstate of utter shock and disbelieve that something like this could happen in a<br>\nseemingly safe neighbourhood where the kids play outside every day.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the guardian the victim could recall the<br>\nappearance of the man who grabbed her and was expected to assist police with<br>\nthe sketching of an identikit. She also recalled the vehicle as a very old<br>\ndark-coloured, box-shaped car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cA case has been registered with police, who have taken a<br>\nstatement and are currently investigating a case of attempted kidnapping and<br>\nsexual assault.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ALSO READ |&nbsp;<a
