The Table View Neighbourhood Watch\u2019s (TVNW) Colour Run\/Walk transformed the streets of Table View into a vibrant canvas on Saturday, 2 December. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Colour Run\/Walk was a first for the neighbourhood watch, where young and old came together to run, walk, and embrace the burst of colour that goes beyond the finish line. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAll the hard work came to fruition,\u201d says TVNW spokesperson, Laura Outhet, \u201cBoy, did folks look a multitude of a gazillion colours! The atmosphere was just electric. People were singing, laughing, dancing and were existing together for a united cause \u2013 to raise money while getting colourful together.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Colour Run\/Walk was held to raise much-needed funds for the neighbourhood watch. TVNW is a registered non-profit organisation and raise funds for their running costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOur radio networks and Icasa licensing fees are all paid for by TVNW,\u201d Outhet told TygerBurger. \u201cControl-room costs, property fees, electricity, the after-hours phone bill, and so on, are paid for by TVNW itself, which is why we obviously needed to fundraise.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said many people, in a manner of speaking, pulled rabbits out of hats and moved mountains to organise this. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMassive thanks also to the corporates who bought into the idea and had a colour station along the route. And a great big thank you to all of you who ran\/walked the race. You made it! Your entry fee and donations make TVNW a better community organisation. This was for you! Thanks to all the TVNW volunteers who marshalled along the route, provided hands to carry, cycled the paths and fetched things from near and far.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
TVNW chair George Norman said the watch achieved one of the core functions of its type of organisation \u2013 community engagement and participation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cToday, it didn\u2019t matter what colour you were; we all ended up \u2018rainbow\u2019. It didn\u2019t matter what language you spoke, we all laughed in unison. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt didn\u2019t matter if you ran, walked or were on wheels, we all finished together. Today a community came together. Take a bow and tip your caps, ladies and gentlemen. This is the organisation I joined years ago, the spirit of coming together, making a difference and being part of the solution,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe missed those who weren\u2019t able to join us and look forward to sharing with all of you again soon.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Saturday\u2019s event marked the third time the TVNW has offered a Colour Run\/Walk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
