After enduring nights without proper street lights, motorists rejoice as the glow of street lights illuminate their pathways once more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFor too long, the absence of adequate lighting has cast a pall over our community, leaving us vulnerable to accidents and criminal activity under the cover of darkness. However, thanks to the diligent efforts of local authorities and tireless advocacy from concerned citizens, this once neglected issue has finally been addressed,\u201d says resident Lionel McKenzie. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The City of Cape Town\u2019s energy department has been repairing the street lights along the R27 in the Table View area over the last few weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is the next phase of a long-term project to replace copper wires with aluminium all along the R27 to deter thieves and vandalism. The repairs cost about R850 000, Ward 107 Councillor, Jonathan Mills, confirmed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cEnsuring that this major road stays well lit provides an important safety benefit to residents.
