Following a second court appearance in the Wynberg Magistrates\u2019 Court on Thursday 2 May, a training instructor from the Philippi Police Training Academy accused of raping a female police trainee was released with a warning until the next hearing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This was confirmed to TygerBurger<\/em><\/span> by Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) spokesperson Phaladi Shuping, after the initial statement was released confirming the instructor\u2019s arrest and detailing the incident that allegedly transpired on Sunday 31 March. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt is alleged that on 31 March, a police instructor at a Philippi Police Training Academy in the Western Cape called a female police trainee to his office and she went to the office after she had several excuses in the past for not going to his office,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The 50-year-old police instructor is accused of having locked the door once the woman trainee entered his office, and raped her. <\/p>\n\n\n\n She was allowed to leave after the alleged rape, however did not report the incident immediately. The 30-year-old only reported the incident few days later and the case was reported to Ipid for investigations, the directorate continued. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Ipid arrested the police instructor on Sunday 21 April on a charge of rape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He first appeared in the Wynberg Magistrates\u2019 Court on Monday 22 April after which the case was postponed for a formal bail application. The Western Cape police was also approached to comment and spokesperson Sgt Wesley Twigg referred the inquiry back to Ipid. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Following a second court
