Big Bay Surf Lifesaving Club is calling on the community to support one of their own who will compete for the South African Lifesaving Team in Australia in August. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jake Hutton, a lifeguard at the club, qualified to represent South Africa in Durban at the ILS Africa Champs and SA Nationals recently. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

His tour is 100% self-funded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lifesaving World Championships is the ultimate lifesaving competition, with the competitors being the best of the best from around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe deserves this chance to shine at an international level \u2013 he has worked very hard for this honour. Please consider donating to this voluntary lifeguard who patrols our beaches during the summer months to keep your family and children safe on Big Bay Beach,\u201d the club says. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The club has since initiated an Electric Eel Swim Series to help raise funds for Jake. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis particular event will serve as a fundraiser for one of our junior lifeguards, Jake Hutton, who has made the SA Team to participate in World Champs in Australia in August. All proceeds of the event will be going towards the enormous amount of money he needs to pay to get there, so your support would be most welcome.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brainchild behind swim series<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Electric Eel Swim Series is the brain child of Jon Vickers, former Royal Marine Commando and Navy diver. Jon coaches nippers at the Big Bay Surf Lifesaving Club as he is passionate about the ocean and wants to help others experience the power of open water swimming. Jon also offers skills clinics that include entry and exit through waves, sighting and reading currents and tides. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aim of the swim series is to introduce novices to open water swimming in a safe and controlled environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
