The Huguenot Square Library recently hosted a transformative employment programme in collaboration with the Expanded Public Works (EPWP) Programme, Department of Labour, Snipper House of Beauty, Open Door Community Foundation, the police and Our Grounds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event attracted 128 community members eager to explore employment opportunities and gain valuable insights into career development. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Cheryl Petersen from the library, the programme marked an essential step towards addressing unemployment and empowering local residents. \u201cEach organisation played a pivotal role in this employment initiative. They presented the public with information on the current job market, important tips when applying for a job as well as the various resources available. EPWP and The Department of Labour also assisted the participants with registering on the respective databases. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Edith Collins from Snipper House of Beauty as well as Zoe Meyer from Our Grounds inspired everyone with their talks about entrepreneurship and Melanie Payne from Open Door Community Foundation brought two people along who spoke of their journey with Open Door. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Petersen said this employment programme has left a lasting impact on the community. \u201cThe 128 who attended it left with newfound knowledge, improved job-seeking skills and a sense of empowerment.
