Following its victory in the provincial and regional ballots
\nover the weekend, Western Cape Premier Alan Winde on Saturday said the Western
\nCape Government will remain committed to the citizens of the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the IEC dashboard a total of 1 269 245 votes
\nwere cast for the provincial ballot in the City of Cape Town, of which 707\u2009091
\nwere for the DA, 249\u2009081 for the ANC, 82\u2009274 for the EFF, 56\u2009761 for the PA and
\n10\u2009002 for the Vryheidsfront Plus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Province-wide, 1\u2009983\u2009137 votes were cast for the provincial
\nballot, with the DA taking 55,30% of the vote and 1 958 889 for the
\nregional ballot, the DA taking 53,40%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winde said it is an immense honour to be entrusted with
\nleading the Western Cape government towards greater heights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhile we have been working flat out over several years to
\ndeliver on our government\u2019s key priorities of growing the province\u2019s economy,
\nfrom keeping creating jobs and to making the region safer and more resilient,
\nwe owe it to all our residents to work even harder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe take nothing for granted and will never allow
\ncomplacency to creep into our government.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Long queues<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

 He thanked every voter who braved long queues to make their
\nmark. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

 \u201cAs gruelling as it has been for us all, it has also
\nre-energised us. Voters exercised their sacrosanct right to vote. The right to
\nvote and become a meaningful part of our democracy is one of the most powerful
\nways in which we can effect change.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 He said every vote will help guide the Western Cape
\nGovernment towards improving critical functions and service delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 \u201cThis is our duty, and we will not waiver in fulfilling what
\nwe have promised our citizens. I am very proud of our government and the people
\nof this extraordinary province. Together we will be able to do so much to
\nensure the Western Cape remains a province of hope and worth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 \u201cMake no mistake, ahead of us still lies a long road. We
\nmust double down to keep creating jobs, speed up economic growth and make our
\nprovince safer and more prosperous.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first sitting of the seventh administration of the
\nWestern Cape Provincial Parliament is scheduled to take place on 12 June. The
\nPremier will be elected and sworn in on that day. The following day, the 13th,
