Following a security breach, during which a break-in at an office near the children\u2019s ward at Mediclinic Cape Gate occurred on 24 May, the hospital said it has taken extra security measures to ensure unoccupied areas of the hospital are closely monitored.<\/p>\n

\n

According to the hospital group\u2019s spokesperson Leigh Thomas, the incident in which a computer box and screen were stolen occurred at 02:30, when a window of a manager\u2019s office was forced open and broken to gain access.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cAs our managers work a standard office week from Monday to Friday, the office was unoccupied at the time of the incident,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\n

Due to security protocol Thomas couldn\u2019t disclose the specifics of hospital security protocols, as requested by TygerBurger.<\/em><\/p>\n

\n

\u201cOur primary concern is the safety and security of our patients and staff, and providing detailed information could pose a future security risk,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Two suspects were apprehended by officers from Titanium Securitas the following day during crime-prevention patrols.<\/p>\n

\n

Officers had come across them under the Okavango Bridge near the shopping centre.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cAs officers approached them one made a run for it, but was chased down by an officer who brought him back to the location to question him about his actions,\u201d Titanium spokesperson Kobus Kotze related. \u201cOfficers proceeded to do a search of the immediate area and found a computer box and screen labelled \u2018Mediclinic\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said both suspects were force-marched to the nearby hospital, which advised them it was pressing charges for the break-in.<\/p>\n
