A lifeguard from Kleinvlei is heading to the Gold Coast in Australia and will be participating in the World Interclub Lifesaving Championships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Darryl Lindt (25) only learned how to swim three years ago and started lifesaving two years ago. \u201cWhen the winte comes you cannot train track as one guy joining our group for training and he promoted the idea to the group about lifesaving and what\u2019s it all about. At the time I was the only one really keen on taking up a new chapter in my life so we exchange numbers and started communicating with each other and then soon after Avron Manchest started teaching me how to swim so that l can become a Lifegaurd,\u201d says Lindt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to him his dream with lifesaving is to make the beaches more safe and enjoyable for the public without them having to be concerned about their safety. \u201cWith this World Championships I\u2019m dreaming of at least winning a medal and have the most fun possible while learning and gaining alot of international experience, since it will be my first appearance on the international stage for anything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI stay in Kleinvlei, Eersteriver and is a former learner from Kleinvlei High School where l also still assist currently and in the last 3-4 years in a coaching capacity for both athletics and cross Country. l am a level 1 and 2 Athletics South Africa coach and is also studying towards a National Certificate in Fitness and I\u2019ve helped a few athletes already getting their provincial colours,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He is a lifeguard at the Clifton Surf Lifesaving Club and a recently qualified Inflated Rescue Boat (IRB crewman) at the club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
