Pothole-repair work and road resealing are said to continue soon on problem roads in Bothasig and Kaapzicht. This was the information shared by a representative of the department of urban mobility at a Subcouncil 3 meeting held on Thursday in Milnerton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Councillors were discussing the report on the structured programme on pothole-repair work as well as the programme on road resealing for Subcouncil 3. The purpose of the report is to inform Subcouncil of the roll-out programme and status of the structured pothole repair programme, along with the resealing programme within urban mobility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Although repair work had been done to some roads in Bothasig, the one problematic road, Boom Street, still needs attention, said Ward 5 Councillor Miquette Temlett.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said the road was on the original list of repair work, yet it had not yet been fixed. She said Boom Street was in a poor state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bre\u00e1n Esterhuysen, a representative of Urban Mobility, said the department had started work in Plattekloof Glen and it will be completed in the next one to two weeks. The team will then move over to Kaapzicht. He said a contract is out for 1\u2009600 squares of potholes to be repaired.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In terms of road resealing he told ward councillors that his colleagues had been out inspecting the roads and some of the roads on the original list had been cut, while others had been added. The priorities changed and some of the cuts are because of budget constraints, Esterhuysen said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With regard to Boom Street in Bothasig, he indicated work will take place on the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Esterhuysen said a total of 3\u2009km of roads had already been done in Wards 1 (Panorama, Welgelegen, Plattekloof and Monte Vista) and 5 (Bothasig, Edgemead and Richwood).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
