\u201cI was delighted to learn that this family-run business has been operating for over 40 years. I met with the owner to discuss concerns raised about clients drinking outside of the park, particularly as we head into the summer season. What initially appeared to be a minor issue turned into a long ordeal, with power only restored after over 50 hours.\u201cDuring this time, I received a large number of calls and messages from understandably frustrated residents. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Thanks to the dedication of our street captains, we were able to keep everyone updated on Eskom\u2019s progress. But the real thanks go to the residents who faced this outage with positivity and resilience, making plans to get through the difficult situation. I\u2019ve also shared the Eskom claim link for those who suffered financial losses during the outage,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Problem buildingsResidents also raised the alarm on a problem building in Arum Road. \u201cThey have raised issues about a problem building in the area and the ongoing Blaauwberg corridor densification project, which includes multiple blocks of flats being built nearby. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
While we can\u2019t halt development, I\u2019ve committed to engaging with City planners and developers to ensure that any new construction is done with care and consideration for current residents,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She also conducted a site visit to the Bayside Canal project, where a team was able to address a dumping issue for nearby residents. \u201cThe water and sanitation committee was present, and it was encouraging to see real progress on this project, which is essential for future-proofing the canal against flooding and improving the water quality flowing into Rietvlei,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
