{"id":43023,"date":"2024-11-14T16:06:01","date_gmt":"2024-11-14T14:06:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/tygerburger\/lego-therapy-making-a-difference-20241112\/"},"modified":"2025-03-20T05:15:54","modified_gmt":"2025-03-20T03:15:54","slug":"lego-therapy-making-a-difference-20241112","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/tygerburger\/lego-therapy-making-a-difference-20241112\/","title":{"rendered":"Lego therapy making a difference"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Tender Love and Care (TLC) recently held Lego therapy sessions for children in Wolwerivier, fostering creativity and community engagement. <\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The non-profit also supports Cape Town\u2019s informal settlements with food, health programs, and youth activities, aiming to help communities achieve self-sufficiency. <\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Through volunteer efforts, TLC provides vital aid and runs street ministry projects to assist those facing harsh winter conditions.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>The non-profit organisation Tender Love and Care (TLC) recently visited the Wolwerivier informal settlement to conduct Lego therapy sessions, bringing children together for a day of creative engagement and connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TLC is also taking care of seven informal settlements in the Cape Town area with more than 120 families living there. These families get fed by TLC and get help for repairing for example storm damage to their shanty homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div contenteditable=\"false\" data-embed24=\"Images\" data-pos=\"middle\" id=\"embed_8b101aff\">\n<div class=\"slide\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" data-smallsrc=\"https:\/\/cdn.24.co.za\/files\/Cms\/General\/d\/12405\/be1726bbff5e4f549abac900e4ac0f50.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/tygerburger\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/c097a44858654192b2c8f1322a561fd7.jpg\" title=\"The children forming a circle around the legos.\"><p><\/p>\n<div class=\"caption\">The children forming a circle around the legos.<\/div>\n<div class=\"img_accreditation\"><span class=\"source\" style=\"display:none;\"><\/span><span class=\"photographer\" style=\"display:none;\"><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The children are provided with the Educare programmes several times a week to prepare them for school, additionally TLC organises youth and sport activities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOther programmes deal with health issues deriving from the bad living conditions, specially aimed at the mothers and their kids living in the settlements. We attend various meetings with the police, schools, different community organisations and representatives from the City of Cape Town, making sure to combine our efforts to reach our goals and help
