This includes providing specialised training for coaches and staff, creating accessible facilities, and acquiring adaptive sports equipment tailored to the unique needs of the children. He also aims to establish regional and national leagues where children from various schools can participate in structured competitions, promoting collaboration and friendly rivalry among special schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another vital part of the project is ensuring long-term support for young athletes. Scholarships, transportation, and mentorship programmes are needed to ensure that all students, regardless of their financial situation, can fully participate. Fortuin also emphasises the urgent need to repair Astra\u2019s hydrotherapy pool, which is essential for the rehabilitation and therapy of students with mobility challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-transformative-power-of-sport\">The transformative power of sport<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Fortuin highlights the profound impact sports can have on children with disabilities. Physically, it improves fitness, motor skills, and strength while also helping manage certain health conditions. Socially, it fosters friendships and teamwork, giving children a sense of belonging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Engaging in sports also boosts confidence and self-esteem, helping students feel accomplished and recognised for their efforts. Additionally, physical activity reduces stress and anxiety, providing an emotional outlet for children facing unique challenges. Through participation, they also develop life skills like discipline, responsibility, and perseverance that benefit them far beyond the playing field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-creating-inclusive-and-competitive-leagues\">Creating inclusive and competitive leagues<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Fortuin envisions leagues that allow children to compete based on their specific abilities, making competition fair and empowering. However, even without formal classifications, he believes leagues can still thrive. Flexible rules and a focus on participation rather than competition can ensure that every child, regardless of their circumstances, can take part and feel included.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSports can teach children to be students of the game, helping them grow mentally and physically while preparing for bigger tournaments,\u201d explains Fortuin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-join-the-mission\">Join the mission<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Fortuin\u2019s vision is ambitious, but with the right support, it can change the lives of countless children.
