{"id":324305,"date":"2026-06-16T16:09:59","date_gmt":"2026-06-16T14:09:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/tygerburger\/?p=324305"},"modified":"2026-06-16T16:14:39","modified_gmt":"2026-06-16T14:14:39","slug":"bankseta-offers-bursaries-in-honour-of-youth-day-50th-anniversary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/tygerburger\/bankseta-offers-bursaries-in-honour-of-youth-day-50th-anniversary\/","title":{"rendered":"BankSETA offers bursaries in honour of Youth Day 50th anniversary"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>South Africa is commemorating the 50th anniversary of the 1976 Youth Uprisings this Youth Day, and the Banking Sector Education and Training Authority (BankSETA) has used the occasion to reaffirm its commitment to young South Africans by positioning itself as an opportunity provider.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The commemoration is held under the theme: &#8220;Reset@50 \u2014 Our National Commitment to the Future, for Freedom Lives in Every Generation.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-bankseta-bursaries-available\">BankSETA bursaries available<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of its Youth Day commitment, BankSETA is offering bursaries in the following areas of study:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Diploma in IT<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Diploma in Computer Networking<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>BCom in Management Science in Accounting<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>BCom in Commerce in Economics<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>BCom in Banking<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>BSc in Information Science<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>BCom in Finance Management Science<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>BCom in Financial Markets<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Postgraduate in Business Administration<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>MCom in Development Finance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-to-apply\">How to apply<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>BankSETA does not accept applications directly from students. Funding is channelled through partnerships with public universities and universities of technology, or through employers who are registered members of the banking and alternative banking sector. Interested students are advised to contact their institution&#8217;s financial aid office or monitor the BankSETA website for upcoming funding windows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications are submitted through the BankSETA Management Information System (SIMS) on the <a href=\"https:\/\/sims.bankseta.org.za\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/sims.bankseta.org.za\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-about-the-commemoration\">About the commemoration<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>16 June 1976 is recognised as a turning point in the struggle against apartheid, when students rose up against the use of Afrikaans as a language of instruction in schools. The national commemoration was held at the FNB Premium Parking precinct in Nasrec, Johannesburg, where President Cyril Ramaphosa delivered the keynote address.
