Learners at Bet-el School of Skills in Kuils River were treated to a special Youth Day celebration themed “You are enough”, organised by the women of non-profit company Coin Care last Wednesday (10 June).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event followed on two workshops about vision boards and journaling that Coin Care<\/a> hosted at the school in April, as part of their ongoing commitment to uplift and empower young people in the community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chair Cheryl Johnson summed up the heart of the initiative: “Every young person has value, purpose and the ability to make a difference. Today we celebrate your unique talents and encourage you to believe in yourself and your future.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Income-generating skills<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Local entrepreneurs were invited to share their success stories and inspire the learners through practical demonstrations of income-generating skills. Guest speakers included Adele Alexander, who spoke about printing; beautician Lauren George; Fred Williams, who spoke about woodwork; and Nellene Fairbairn, who spoke about gardening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The talks were followed by the opportunity for some hands-on experience, with learners choosing which activity interested them most before joining one of the four presenters to participate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
