The Bishop Lavis Community Policing Forum (CPF) said it is tired of the blood flowing in the streets of its community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This comment comes after at least two shootings occurred during the week, which led to two deaths and an alleged retaliation attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We are tired,” said CPF chair Amanda Davis. “As the Bishop Lavis CPF we are tired of the blood flowing on our streets. How is it possible that the Western Cape, the province with the most murders, does not have proper crime intelligence? For us, the people on the ground, it feels as if the police are just having talk shops because they are not investing in the Cape Flats. The police on the Cape Flats are too reactionary. Our local police stations are trying their best with what they have but it is not nearly enough. On Tuesday we saw a double murder again in Kalksteenfontein and, a few hours later, three attempted murders in Netreg. We need serious holistic intervention from all spheres of government because our children are dying on a daily basis.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bishop Lavis police spokesperson Sgt Samantha Adonis acknowledged the two murders, but did not say anything about the retaliation. “Bishop Lavis police attended to a shooting incident at a house in Kalksteenfontein. According to bystanders a white vehicle had pulled up at the residence and two unknown shooters entered the house, fired shots and fled in the white vehicle. It was found that two men, aged 33 and 43, were fatally shot. Detectives are investigating a double murder, with no arrests at this stage.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
