The Fisantekraal community is reeling in shock after yet another man was fatally shot this morning in the area \u2014 the third since Sunday (15 February).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Const Ndakhe Gwala, spokesperson for the provincial police, it was about 08:00 this morning when the Durbanville police, after a complaint, found the body of a 39-year-old Malawi man with 10 gunshot wounds to his head. The body was found in an open field with a vlei between Boy Briers Drive and Bishop Court Close in Fisantekraal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gunned down<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In the second shooting, on Monday morning (16 February), the 36-year-old Jaco Coetzee was gunned down in Boy Briers Drive on his way to work. According to Gwala Durbanville police attended a shooting complaint at about 06:15. On arrival they found his body with three gunshot wounds to the head.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

his came after another shooting incident in Fisantekraal on Sunday, about 01:15. The body of a man was found in Saartjie Baartman Street. According information TygerBurger<\/em> received, the dead man had just been released from jail where he had served six years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All three incidents were under investigation and no arrests had yet been made. Cases of murder were registered and transferred to detectives for further investigation, Gwala said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or, alternatively, use the MySAPS mobile application to share information anonymously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Establish drug action committee<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Gerhard Fourie, chair of Subcouncil 7 of the City of Cape Town, said he will meet with the Durbanville police and other safety-and-security stakeholders next week to reinstate quarterly meetings with them and establish a drug action committee to address drug-related crime in Fisantekraal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“These shootings are a huge concern,” he pointed out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Senseless act of violence<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

“Coetzee was reportedly on his way to work when his life was taken in a senseless act of violence,” posted Francois Berry, councillor for Ward 105 on Facebook. “Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“As ward councillor I want to state clearly that we cannot and will not allow criminals and gangsters to terrorise our community. The safety of our residents is non-negotiable.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said he had formally written to the relevant authorities to request that any army deployment to the Cape Flats include Fisantekraal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Our community deserves visible policing and decisive action to restore safety and stability. We call on the police to prioritise this investigation and to bring those responsible to justice swiftly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We also urge residents to continue working closely with police and the community safety structures, and to report any information that may assist the investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Fisantekraal is a resilient community. We stand united against violence and will continue to fight for safer streets for every resident.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A resident of Fisantekral, who for fear of reprisals wished to remain anonymous, said Coetzee had grown up in front of her and she knew his parents well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
