A cyclist died, presumably of a heart attack, while cycling on Vissershok Road near Durbanville on Sunday morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Passing motorists saw the man lying on the side of the road near his bicycle, about 06:30, and raised the alarm. A motorist turned around and found the cyclist unresponsive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
More cyclists stopped and administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), but could not revive him, a spokesperson for Bassett Alarms, one of the first on the scene around 09:20, said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the City’s metro ambulance service arrived about half an hour later, shortly before family members of the dead man, estimated to be in his 60s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Sadly, despite all efforts the cyclist was declared dead on the scene [presumably] after suffering a heart attack,” according to a post on Bassett Alarms’ Facebook page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Our deepest condolences go to the cyclist\u2019s wife, family, friends and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time. Words aren’t enough at such moments.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
