Two men were killed in a motorcycle crash in Parow last night in what appears to be a hit-and-run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Details at the scene are unclear but a private paramedic service who attended the accident said that two people had died after \u201cbeing flung onto the N1\u201d near Giel Basson Avenue, during the crash. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another social media post by a security company seemed to indicate that the men had been riding pillion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEmergency services responded to a tragic incident on the N1 at Giel Basson, where two bikers were killed after being flung from their motorcycle during a crash,\u201d the post said. \u201cOur thoughts are with the families and friends affected by this loss.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to online traffic reports the crash caused the N1 offramp at Monte Vista to be closed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

None of the posts included details on how the crash had occurred. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Culpable homicide<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Sergeant Wesley Twigg of the police\u2019s provincial media office said that no one had been arrested at the scene but a case of culpable homicide had been opened. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cParow police registered a culpable homicide case for investigation following a fatal crash on Monday night, 5 January, at about 20:40, at the N1 bridge, Giel Basson Drive, Parow, involving a motorcycle,\u201d Twigg said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPolice members attended to a complaint of an accident and upon arrival on the scene they found two adult males who sustained multiple injuries.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Twigg said that paramedics declared both men dead at the scene. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation and no arrests have been made,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Twigg did not confirm if a case of culpable homicide had been opened because the crash was a result of a hit-and-run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
