Police are investigating the kidnapping of well-known Milnerton businessman Roger Brijlal, who was abducted near his home almost two weeks ago.

Brijlal was last seen on the morning of Monday 9 September. When he failed to arrive at work and could not be reached on his phone, his family grew concerned. By that afternoon, a missing person\u2019s case was opened at Milnerton Police Station.

Later the same day, his vehicle \u2013 a white VW Amarok \u2013 was discovered abandoned in Joe Slovo. According to reports, his kidnappers demanded a ransom for his safe return.

Police spokesperson Sgt Wesley Twigg confirmed that the Provincial Anti-Kidnapping Task Team is leading the investigation.

\u201cKindly be advised that the mentioned case number is a kidnapping and extortion case,\u201d Twigg said. \u201cAccording to reports, the complainant\u2019s fianc\u00e9 reported him missing when he did not return home. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She then received a telephone call demanding a ransom for the victim\u2019s safe return. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation, and no arrests have been made.\u201d

Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
