Two people were shot over the weekend bringing to an end Mitchell’s Plain Police Station’s “no murder” count<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Thursday 31 July, the Mitchell’s Plain precinct had reached a count of 20 days without any murders, said station commander Brig Brian Muller. He had started the count after a spate of deadly gang warfare claimed the lives of seven people early last month.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police responded in force with increased visibility and provincial MEC for Police Oversight and Community Safety, Anroux Marais, commended their efforts. But on Friday one man was killed and another injured in a gang-related shooting in Westridge, near Westgate Mall.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yesterday morning (Monday 4 August) the body of a man was found in Lentegeur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lentegeur station spokesperson Const Navon van Houten confirmed that the man’s body was found along the train tracks, near to the station, behind Lentegeur High School.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to crime watch groups, the young man was a “Fancy Boy” who had been shot in the head twice.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
