The City of Cape Town’s appeal to residents to report potholes arrived as the winter rains set in, so Goodwoods’ horrific state of roads worsened.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Admittedly a small number of minor potholes were fixed – in a host of variations, but worse followed. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The City embarked on angle grinding large areas around potholes, then disting out all the tar, etc. within the cut area. Depths ranged from 19 to 37 cm. No cones were placed around the area, so motorists’ fate was sealed.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, in Vasco at an extremely busy four-way stop, an area (1.7M x 1.2m) at one stop street has resulted in the gravel degenerating into two holes about 7mm deep. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Motorists use the one half of the road to avoid the holes. From all four sides! \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This has been ongoing for over a month. These cut-out areas have continued, the latest in Murray Street, until 23 June – notwithstanding the danger it poses like all others, but damage to vehicles.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
