Roman is op Sondag 27\u2009April gedurende &#8216;n perderesies wat na bewering onwettig van aard was, dood nadat &#8216;n perd haar teen die kop en bors geskop het. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>   Roman het die perdewedrenne volgens haar suster Navorique die eerste keer bygewoon toe dit nog by die plaaslike sportveld in Abbotsdale plaasgevind het. Die renne het sedertdien na &#8216;n gebied wat as die mopgat beskryf word, geskuif en nie soos voorheen berig by die Houmoedstalle nie. &#8220;Daardie Sondag was die tweede keer wat my suster die perderenne bygewoon het,&#8221; voeg Navorique by. Roman het op 8 Mei \u2013 sowat twee weke n\u00e1 die voorval \u2013 in die Tygeberg-hospitaal aan haar beserings beswyk. Volgens die plaaslike polisiewoordvoerder sers. Henry du Randt word die presiese omstandighede rakende haar dood steeds ondersoek. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>   &#8216;n Geleentheid word na bewe- ring volgens inwoners vir die komende naweek beplan, maar geen bevestiging oor waar of wanneer dit gaan plaasvind, kon voor druktyd bevestig word nie. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>   Navorique s\u00ea die familie sukkel nog om haar suster se dood te verwerk. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>   &#8220;Om eerlik te wees \u2013 dit gaan nie goed nie, maar ons probeer ons bes.&#8221; \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sy s\u00ea Abbotsdale het nie &#8216;n geskikte plek vir perdewedrenne nie. &#8220;Die renne is onwettig. Baie van die perde is ook nie bevoeg om in daardie ren deel te neem nie, want niemand sien behoorlik na die perde om nie,&#8221; het sy ontsteld bygevoeg.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Volgens Louise van Zyl, die bestuurder van die Swartland- en Weskus-DBV, is hulle nie van die gebeure in kennis gestel nie. &#8220;Ons wil graag bevestig dat ons nie bewus is van enige onwettige perdewedrenne in Abbotsdale nie en dat niemand ons tot dusver hieroor gekontak het nie. Indien enige besorgdheid bestaan oor perde se welsyn of &#8216;n spesifieke ligging waar perde aangehou word en wat ondersoek moet word, versoek ons dat dit aan ons verskaf word sodat ons die nodige stappe kan doen.&#8221; \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022\u2009&#8217;n Gedenkdiens vir Roman het op 15 Mei plaasgevind.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Die ondersoek na die dood van
