The Robertson Tourism Office would like to inform the community that the companies Seashore Films (Pty) Ltd (Robertson-based) and The Ergo Company (Pty) Ltd, (Johannesburg-based) are presently producing a 90-minute feature film, which will have an early 2023 release, at cinemas and on digital platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The film, set in Robertson, is being shot entirely on location there and in surrounding areas. It features the popular community-based Christmas Choir bands (Blaasorkeste) from the region, and the Old Saint Blues Christmas Choir Band in particular. They are a brass-and-string orchestra with a musical contingent of 30 and marching contingent of 60.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A broad showcase of the district, its wine region and business infrastructure, and its enormous potential for tourism, the film is a huge investment in the heritage and history of Robertson\u2019s peoples. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The filmmakers therefore welcome community support for, and participation in, the project. The importance of community goodwill flows from this project, aside from the knock-on effects of tourism and local spend over a period of 12 weeks cannot be overstated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As for valued participation, the producers are also looking to provide the Robertson Old Saint Blues Christmas Choir with a full set of new uniforms for the film. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The cost of outfitting one person from hat to shoes, according to strict union regulations, is R1 500, and they are about R45 000 short.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If individuals and businesses see their way to helping financially, partly or in total, the filmmakers can give substantial visual exposure to their brand, and are open to discussion or providing further documentation or information should it be required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The film is important, because it reflects the background to the phenomenon of the Kerskore and their place and significance in the South African historical and heritage landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n From the production company:<\/b>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAs we are basing this production in Robertson and will be sourcing goods, services and support personnel from the area, we are most keen to have input and support or sponsorships from the local business and residents\u2019 communities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOur needs span a wide range of goods, from fleet vehicles, to full uniforms (hats to shoes) for a 90 person band specifically for the film, gazebos and umbrellas for shade for crew and cast during the shooting of the production, portable toilets for the duration of the shoot which will be set almost entirely in the Bo-dorp, round the clock security both on and off our set, discounted accommodation for up to 40\/45 crew and cast members. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOur spend in the area will be significant as we must house, cater and transport approximately 45 crew and cast (the numbers will fluctuate according to the daily requirements) for a period of around nine weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOur committed dates for our Pre-Production period are from 15th February to the filming of the 80th Commemoration competition on 28 March. Our production dates (ie the commencement of the full shooting programme) for a further five to six weeks will be confirmed and these dates will be communicated to you with all speed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As our mandate and commitment is to work as closely and inclusively as possible with the district residents and business communities, we would truly appreciate all assistance to create as many opportunities as possible for local participation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
