The nominations for the 2022 National Teaching Awards are now open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They close on 26 July and all Western Cape teachers are urged to participate in it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Western Cape Provincial Minister of Education David Maynier says the awards give an opportunity to recognise the incredible work that so many teachers have done over the past year and to celebrate the achievements of outstanding teachers in the Western Cape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Provincial Teaching Awards will take place during September, the winners in each category going on to be nominees for the National Teaching Awards scheduled for October. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Maynier says last year the Western Cape Education Department (WCED) was extremely proud to have to have nine of its 14 nominees place in the top three nationally and they are looking forward to seeing the calibre of this province\u2019s teachers recognised in this year\u2019s edition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAll teachers, governing bodies, and district officials, are invited to submit nominations to their principals or centre managers,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cA minute has been sent to all schools with the relevant criteria and forms.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Teachers may be nominated in the following 13 categories: .<\/span> Excellence in Grade R Teaching.<\/span> Excellence in Primary School Teaching (Grades 1-7).<\/span> Excellence in Primary School Leadership.<\/span> Excellence in Secondary School Teaching (Grades 8-12).<\/span> Excellence in Secondary School Leadership.<\/span> Excellence in Special Needs Teaching.<\/span> Excellence in Special Needs School Leadership .<\/span> Excellence in Teaching Mathematics (GET).<\/span> Excellence in Teaching Mathematics (FET).<\/span> Excellence in Teaching Natural Sciences.<\/span> Excellence in Teaching Physical Sciences.<\/span> Excellence in Technology \u2013 Enhanced, Teaching and Learning.<\/span> Kader Asmal Lifetime Achievement Award<\/p>\n\n\n\n Maynier added that previous winners have gone on to do great things in education. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI hope our schools will take this opportunity to give their most deserving teachers a chance to shine both on the
