Eskom prepares to kick off its prepaid meter recode initiative to all its customers around the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This follows a successful roll-out of a pilot project in Gauteng where Eskom was able to recode 5 800 meters. The current TID code will expire on the 24 November 2024 and after this date all STS compliant meters will stop accepting credit tokens. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The recoding of prepaid meters is not only an Eskom initiative, but it will be rolled out to all Eskom and municipal customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Swartland Municipality would like to remind the residents of Abbotsdale, Chatsworth, Kalbaskraal, Koringberg, Riebeek Kasteel, Riebeek-West and Riverlands that they are direct Eskom clients and that their TID-process will be managed by Eskom. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The electricity utility has indicated it will communicate with these customers on how and when the process will be managed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Swartland Municipal clients in Yzerfontein, Darling, Moorreesburg, Ongegund and Malmesbury are reminded that the process is ongoing and on-the-ground teams are continuing with their door-to-door project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Eskom has communicated with its approved vending agents to ensure its systems are enabled for the do-it-yourself recoding. When the recoding starts in a particular area, customers in that area will receive two key change tokens with their normal credit-token purchases. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Customers will know their recode was done correctly when their purchased credit tokens load successfully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There is no cost to the customer for recoding its meter. Should anyone request payment for this service customers are advised to report it immediately to the police or Eskom on share call 08600 37566. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Roll-out will be phased per residential area and customers are therefore requested to look out for information in its local community or media to know when the recoding will be active in their area and for any updates on the recoding programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is important for customers to take note that should they not recode their meter it will become inactive after November 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The prepaid electricity meters of Drakenstein consumers using Eskom-supplied electricity who are mainly in Gouda and Saron will now undergo the TID Rollover process as communicated by Eskom.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
