The unique TIDs used to identify each electricity credit token will run out of available numbers on 24 November 2024. This implies all prepaid meters must now be configured to accept the new STS Edition 2 tokens that will be generated from that date. If this is not done the prepaid meter will not be able to accept tokens and the user will be left without access to electricity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To ensure all prepaid electricity meters are updated the municipality has opted against the do-it-yourself approach and conducted a comprehensive audit of prepaid meters. This audit aims to account for every meter before the door-to-door project is launched. Langeberg Municipality has appointed Syntell Pty Ltd as the prepaid meter-service provider to visit households and businesses from August 2023 to November 2024 to update each prepaid meter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Residents must allow only authorised field staff with an official identity card to enter their premises and access their electricity meter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Syntell visit to your property will involve the following:<span>.<\/span> An inspection of the electrical meter<span>.<\/span> User data information collection<span>.<\/span> Re-programme and enter a special pair of key change tokens into existing electricity prepaid meters so it continues to work after 24 November 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prepaid-meter users will need to load any vouchers they have already purchased before the software upgrade as the meter will not accept any old tokens once you have rolled over to the new software. A TID generally has a life span of 31,9 years, after which the meter must be reset and the meter key changed to prevent old tokens from being used again. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Existing vending keys are linked to the 1993 base date and key revision 1 (STS Edition 1), which expires on 24 November 2024. The updated vending keys are linked to a 2014 base date and a new key revision (STS Edition 2), which will be valid until 2045. All STS products must comply with STS Edition 2 before 24 November 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More information regarding the Syntell\u2019s field staff visit dates and times to your area will be shared on
