The Riebeek Valley Community Policing Forum and Victim Supporters (VEP) at the Riebeek West Community Service Centre (attached to the police) are jointly launching a 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children campaign. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event takes place at 10:00 at the Riebeek West Police Station on Saturday 25 November, marking the official start of a general campaign that runs annually from this date to 10 December.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They will collaborate with the following stakeholders: police, Swartland Law Enforcement, ward councillors, the West Coast Community Foundation, Goedgedacht Men\u2019s Group, communities of Riebeek West and Riebeek-Kasteel, Swartland Municipality\u2019s GBV ambassadors for both areas, Unity Community Advice and Development Office NPC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The campaign will end in Riebeek-Kasteel on 9 December at 10:00, starting at the Riebeek-Kasteel Community Hall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe also make a plea to anyone who is able contribute to the two events,\u201d said Faiza Davids, Public Relations Officer for the Riebeek Valley CPF. \u201cIt would be highly appreciated.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This can be in the form of Bompies (ice lollies), small packets of chips and lollipops. Pre-loved clothing for the event on 9 December will also be welcome. Davids said the Unity Community Advice and Development Office will have a community closet in Riebeek-Kasteel for community members to shop for clothing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the build-up to the 16 Days the team of victim supporters had a training session on Saturday 11 November at Riebeek West Police station to prepare them for the work ahead.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
