Virtual challenges are truly a thing of the past as SPAR announced the dates for the SPAR Women\u2019s 10 km Challenge Series, to be run or walked throughout the country this year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The series starts in Cape Town on Sunday 24 March. Women from the Mother City and surrounds will run the Cape Town leg of South Africa\u2019s \u201cMost Beautiful\u201d race in the Green Point area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Entrants are expected to line-up in their thousands at the start, which is close to the Cape Town Stadium for the 10 km run or walk or the 5 km fun run. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The theme for this year\u2019s SPAR Women\u2019s Challenge is #ChooseYou, with the underlying message of looking after oneself. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe theme encourages you to focus on, just that \u2013 you,\u201d said Van Zyl-Felix<\/span><\/i>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThis is not an empty, self-centred way of looking at yourself. Instead, we are with you and want you to pause and think about yourself. Who am I, what do I stand for and where do I want to be? We need to realise and celebrate our worth as women.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Entries are online at www.sparwomensrace.co.za.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It costs R160 to enter. This includes an entry pack with your race number, the very collectable SPAR T-shirt, a peak and magazine \u2013 all packaged in an attractive re-usable bag. Numbers have been capped at 14 000. A race medal which can later be used as a keyring, and a packed goody bag are available for all finishers on race day. \u201cNationally the SPAR Group is committed to enabling healthier communities in South Africa,\u201d says Sean Komlosy, Marketing Director SPAR Western Cape and Namibia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIn the next few years we will focus our sponsorships and community support on three key areas: nutrition, which includes feeding schemes and food security, education, and women\u2019s empowerment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n For every entry received SPAR will donate a pack of sanitary pads, to be distributed through its Petals Project, in partnership with various charities across the country. As part of the Group\u2019s End GBV campaign, the Saartjie Baartman Centre for Women and Children, based in Manenberg, will also benefit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Those that stay for the prize-giving after the run, stand a chance to win a grand lucky draw prize of R30 000 worth of SPAR vouchers.
