With the November cut-off date for the TID-rollover (token identifier) approaching, Swartland Municipality is in the process of wrapping up it\u2019s part of this project with the software of 99,73% of all municipal prepaid meters in the Swartland having been updated. Less than 80 of the 11 882 meters remain and these are being targeted individually and updated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The TID software for the majority of prepaid electricity meters across the world will expire in November 2024. The software for these prepaid electricity meters must be updated before 24 November 2024 or prepaid electricity customers will not be able to recharge their meters with new tokens (the number you get to punch into your meter when buying prepaid electricity). The only meters not affected by this update are the meters named Proprietary and unlike other meters it only has a seven-digit meter number. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
For the past year, Swartland Municipality has rolled out a phased approach to ensure all our prepaid electricity client meters are updated and that services are not disrupted when the roll-over takes place. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first phase consisted of home visits by the appointed service provider and the second phase consisted of residents being able to update the meters themselves. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Within the Swartland, there are also 8 ESKOM areas where residents are direct ESKOM clients and where ESKOM is responsible for the update of these meters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
ESKOM has given their assurance that all their affected clients in Abbotsdale, Chatsworth, Kalbaskraal, Koringberg, Riebeek Kasteel, Riebeek Wes, Riverlands and Grotto Bay have been updated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Municipal clients who are uncertain about the status of their meters, can check their slips when they next purchase electricity. At the top of the purchase slip, next to their meter number, in brackets it will show KRN 1 or KRN 2. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
If the slip states KRN2, then the meter has been updated. If it states KRN 1, it still needs to be updated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Municipal clients with questions, can contact the municipality on 022 487 9400. ESKOM clients who have questions must please contact ESKOM. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
