Dit help om dit te verstaan.<\/li>\n<li>N\u00e1 so \u2019n ervaring het jy \u2019n reeks reaksies wat normaal is, maar vir jou verwarrend voel. Jy kry byvoorbeeld slaapstoornisse of nagmerries; jy is bang om in \u2019n vreemde groep te wees of na vreemde plekke te gaan. Jy is hiperbewus van jou omgewing; jy voel emosioneel (ons het emmers vol gehuil) en jy beleef terugflitse van die gebeure. Mettertyd word dit egter weer beter.<\/li>\n<li>Dit het ons baie gehelp om oor ons ervaring te praat. Ons het vir al ons vriende vertel wat gebeur het. Omdat ek lank in \u2019n koma was, het ek tot onlangs toe nog vrae gevra wat my man geduldig moes beantwoord. Pr\u00e1\u00e1t oor jou gevoelens van vrees, woede, ens. Daar is nie \u2019n regte of verkeerde manier om te voel nie, maar deel dit wat jy voel.<\/li>\n<li>Maak van beskikbare hulp soos terapie en medikasie gebruik soos nodig. As dit nodig is om operasies te ondergaan om jou fisieke skade te herstel, doen dit. Dis nou meer as \u2019n jaar na die voorval en ek het pas \u2019n voethersteloperasie gehad. Verdere chirurgie word vir volgende jaar beplan om my abdomen te herstel.<\/li>\n<li>Gaan met jou lewe aan, en doen di\u00e9 dinge wat jy graag wil. Die lewe is kosbaar. Gebruik elke dag om jou drome uit te leef \u2013 moenie wag vir \u2018eendag\u2019 nie. Ek het gevoel ek is dit aan myself en my dierbares verskuldig om te genees, so nie het my aanvallers mos gewen. Ek besef nou hoe kosbaar die lewe is, daarom wil ek nie toelaat dat onbenullige dingetjies my tyd in beslag neem nie. Ek voel soos iemand wat met \u2019n nuwe bril na die lewe kyk.<\/li>\n<li>Die band van liefde het ons as gesin versterk en ons waardeer mekaar nou soveel meer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_62860\" style=\"width: 346px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-62860\" class=\"size-full wp-image-62860\" src=\"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/rooirose\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Engel-ring-Chris.jpg\" alt=\"estelle-du-preez-herstelwenke-engelring\" width=\"336\" height=\"336\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-62860\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Die engelring wat die fisioterapeut aan Estelle se vinger kom sit het<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Die viering een jaar later<\/h4>\n<p>Sedert die terreuraanval was ons weer oorsee. Ek is nie bang om te reis nie, hoewel ek lande met ho\u00eb veiligheidsrisiko\u2019s sal vermy. Voor die terreuraanval was ons in \u2019n hotel in Rome langs die Basilica Santa Maria Maggiore. Daar was nie tyd om hierdie kerk te besoek nie, maar ek het my voorgeneem om later \u2019n kers daar te gaan aansteek. Terwyl ek baie siek was, het ek geweet ek moes gesond word om my voorneme uit te voer. Op 18 Maart, presies \u2019n jaar na die aanval, het ek \u2019n kers gaan aansteek om dankie te s\u00ea dat ons lewe. Ons en die kinders het ook ons eie klein \u2018Camino\u2019 gestap tussen die klein dorpies Corniglia en Vernazza in die Cinquaterre-streek in Itali\u00eb. Dit was nie \u2019n maklike stappie nie, maar Chris het my gehelp.
