Later glip wintergeel grasvelde en rooi beeste by ons verby. \u00carens kondig \u2019n verlate spoorwegbordjie \u2019n onsigbare \u201cstasie\u201d se naam aan: \u201cTuisbly\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Kry vir jou, plekkie-langs-die-treinspoor, dink ek bly. \u201cTuisbly\u201d is vir die volgende paar dae nie my tuiste nie. Ons mik vir <em>Thornybush Game Lodge<\/em>. Dis nou daar doer in die Bosveld, naby Hoedspruit, en neffens die Krugerwildtuin.<\/p>\n<p>En w\u00e1t \u2019n wonderlike en weelderige tuiste is dit nie. Argitektoniese vernuf, veld en bos loop hier hand aan hand. Indrukwekkend, maar nie opdringerig nie, staan die vyfster-lodge daar. Boonop skyn die son hier warm en \u2019n ongeskikte getoeter hoor jy ook nie (\u2019n luide getrompetter dalk). Die gasvryheid en diens van die mense wat jou onthaal, eggo dieselfde onopgesmukte eerlikheid en warmte.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-56408 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/rooirose\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Thornybush-Nature-Reserve-500x333.jpg\" alt=\"Thornybush-Nature-Reserve\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Wanneer jy die deur van jou suite oopstoot, voel jy byna oorweldig. Dis so mooi. En skoon. En ruim. Gaan jy onmiddellik op die groot wit bed neersak? Of eerder in die dekstoel op die balkon terugsit en son en veld inasem? Of moet jy in \u2019n skuimbad l\u00ea en deur die muurgrootte badkamervensters kyk hoe die diere in die dro\u00eb rivierloop wei? \u00a0Uiteindelik kon jy die nuwe houtdek by die hoofgebou met sy wye uitsig op die bos, rivierloop en \u2019n watergat nie weerstaan nie. Di\u00e9 gedeelte is sag op die oog en die lyf: lieflike interieur onder die blou hemel, gemaklike stoele, kaggels (winteraande knyp die koue), \u2019n kroegie, en vriendelike mense wat vir jou warm koffie \u2013 of waarvoor jy ook al lus is &#8211; skink.<\/p>\n<p>Die diere was net so gasvry soos die mense &#8211; van die twee njalas wat my op die stoepie van my suite verwelkom het, tot die apies wat soggens &#8211; tot ergernis van die personeel &#8211; ook vir ontbyt wou aansit. \u2019n Mens wil nou nie gasvryheid in die gesig vat nie, maar ek was elke keer maar dankbaar wanneer \u00a0Maanhaar of Grootvoet my nie op my stoepie ingewag het nie. Toe ek hoor \u2019n luiperd het \u2019n vorige aand \u2019n veldwagter se plakkies op sy stoep l\u00ea en opkou, het die onrustigheid toegeneem.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-55848 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/rooirose\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Thornybush-Game-Lodge-leeus-500x375.jpg\" alt=\"Thornybush-Game-Lodge-leeus\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Telkens wanneer ons op \u2019n wildrit gegaan het, het die diere sowaar ook hul beste vir ons voorgesit: \u2019n klomp leeus wat vetpens in die son l\u00ea en bak nadat hulle hulle aan \u2019n buffel vervreet het; welpies wat versigtig naderkruip om in die buit te deel; \u2019n luiperd wat sierlik in die middel van die pad staan en poseer en toe onelegant \u2019n hanetree van ons af in die sand neerplons; koedoes, buffels, seekoeie, vo\u00ebls &#8230; \u00a0\u2019n olifant wat teen die voertuig \u2019n boom staan en plunder. Die eerste keer het ek gesien \u2019n olifant het lang, b\u00e1ie lang en benydenswaardige wimpers . Nou moet ek darem byvoeg dat ons veldwagter en spoorsnyer, Ryno en Orlando, hulle brandbors geloop\/hardloop het om die diere se spoor te sny. Di\u00e9 manne ken hul storie en ontsien geen moeite om \u2019n vars spoor te vat en die ervaring vir besoekers besonders te maak nie.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-56412 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/rooirose\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Thornybush-buite-500x333.jpg\" alt=\"Thornybush-buite\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Die\u00a0 lodge bied twintig losstaande suites, waarvan een reeds smaakvol en elegant oorgedoen is &#8211; suiwer weelde sonder om Afrika in te boet. Die ander suites behoort teen 2017 afgehandel te wees. Die biblioteek sorg vir leeslustiges; die spa vir almal wat die spanning uit die lyf wil kry; die swembad is vir mense, maar loop lig, want die diere eis dit soms as \u2019n drinkplek op.<\/p>\n<p>\u2019n Mens kan sowaar nie dink dat jy honger en dors kan word van niksdoen en nonsens praat nie. Maar Thornybush se mense weet van beter. Hulle ken hul klante en verrassing op verrassing wag op jou: N\u00e1 \u2019n skermerwildrit trek Ryno-hulle in die donker by \u2019n stukkie wildernis in. En toe is ons skielik op \u2019n ander planeet: rye kerse in bruinpapiersakke tussen die bosse, \u2019n vuur wat hoog en warm brand, die heerlikste versnaperinge, drinkgoed &#8230; En ons kuier en ons praat . Terug by die lodge wag aandete. En ons val sowaar as wragtag weer met oorgawe in. Jy vat tog nie \u2019n sjef in die gesig nie. Jy l\u00ea weg aan als wat wonderlik is: springbokskenkels, groente, nagereg, goeie wyn, goeie geselskap. \u2019n Volgende aand eet ons braaivleis in die mooiste lapa. Kerse en vure. Praat. Kuier.<\/p>\n<p>\u2019n Stukkie doringlose hemel in die Afrika-bos.<\/p>\n<p><em>Thornybush Game Lodge<\/em> is deel van die <em>The Thornybush Collection<\/em> \u2013 \u2019n natuurreservaat wat jou vele verblyfopsies bied.
