{"id":4877,"date":"2013-01-04T11:06:00","date_gmt":"2013-01-04T09:06:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rooirose.dvlp.site\/the-last-word-constantia-kaapstad\/"},"modified":"2016-03-02T17:35:56","modified_gmt":"2016-03-02T15:35:56","slug":"the-last-word-constantia-kaapstad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/rooirose\/the-last-word-constantia-kaapstad\/","title":{"rendered":"The Last Word Constantia, Kaapstad"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ons is uitgenooi om \u2019n aand by die vyfsterbederfplek, <strong>The Last Word Constantia<\/strong> in die Kaap se oudste wynvallei, deur te bring.<\/p>\n<p>Wie almal daar was:<br \/>\nEk en my reismaat, Wilma<\/p>\n<p>Wanneer:<br \/>\nFebruarie 2012<\/p>\n<p>Waar ons oorgeslaap het:<br \/>\nIn een van die ligte, fleurige Poolside Suites<\/p>\n<p>Waar ons ge\u00ebet het:<br \/>\nOntbyt in die sonnige eetkamer met sy wit rottangstoele waar vars vrugte en verbeeldingryke ontbytgeregte jou verlei, maar veral \u201cthe last word in filter coffee\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wat het dit onvergeetlik gemaak?<br \/>\nDie intieme, vredige atmosfeer wat kort voor lank in jou siel kom sit<\/p>\n<p>Wat het jy van die plek of die mense te wete gekom wat jou steeds fassineer?:<br \/>\nHoe hulle geweet het waar om die allerlekkerste biltong, neute en nougat op te spoor en hoekom hulle so gaaf was om dit vryelik in die kamer beskikbaar te stel!<\/p>\n<p>Waarheen sou jy wou teruggaan?<br \/>\nEk sou graag weer skemertyd \u2019n glasie wyn in die magiese tuin, met die berge stil in die agtergrond, wou klink.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Tuiskoms<\/h4>\n<p>Die verlange na geborgenheid \u2013 die soort wat jy hopelik met jou aankoms op aarde in jou ma se arms ervaar het \u2013 verlaat ons nooit werklik nie. Ek hoop ek tel as een van die groot gros volwassenes wat min of meer normaal funksioneer, maar soms ervaar ek \u2019n behoefte aan die koestering van my kleintyd. Dit sou so lekker wees as iemand anders net \u2019n rukkie lank sagkens na my wou omsien. Iemand wat na vrede voel.<\/p>\n<p>Toe ons op \u2019n volmaakte somersaand by The Last Word Constantia instap, vou die genoeglikheid my toe. Hoekom, kon ek nie s\u00ea nie. Soms is ons bloot gelukkig om \u2019n ruimte te betree wat met \u2019n liefdevolle intensie en \u2019n fyn oog vir tekstuur, vorm en kleur weldadig op ons inwerk.<\/p>\n<p>Die verwelkoming deur Sam agter die ontvangstoonbank was gul. Kort voor lank was ons in ons suite waar ons in &#8216;n bank met bekoorlike blompatrone kon wegsak en \u2019n glasie sjerrie kon skink met een oog op die privaatswembad en \u2019n aanvallige eikeboom.<\/p>\n<p>Dis die klein gebaartjies wat die verskil maak. Vars blomme in \u2019n vaas, baldadige swemhanddoeke, laprose op die verwelkomingsbriefie langs die bed en in die badkamer. Dit was \u2019n uitdaging om te besluit watter een van die luukse badprodukte ek saam met my in die badwater wou h\u00ea. Soos alles by The Last Word, omgewe die geure jou subtiel en word jou sintuie byna ongemerk betrek. \u2019n Besondere lekkerte was dat ek en my vriendin vooraf enkelbeddens kon aanvra en boonop tussen \u2019n duvet en lakens en komberse kon kies.<\/p>\n<p>Omdat die swembad voor The Last Word Constantia se leefvertrekke met sonkrag verhit is, het ek vir \u2019n vroegoggendswemsessie kans gesien. Langs die swembad het ek my verkyk aan die grootste stuk rooskwarts wat ek nog ooit te\u00ebgekom het. En dan is daar die tuin \u2013 een wat woorde kwalik kan beskryf. Bougainvillea, marmaladebos, melkbossie, takbokvaring, olifantsoor, kanna, dahlias, sterblom &#8230; elke plant kennelik sielsgelukkig.<\/p>\n<p>Dit was nie maklik om di\u00e9 plek van vrede te groet nie. Ek het egter \u2019n vo\u00ebltjie hoor fluit dat hier die heerlikste<em> high teas <\/em>aangebied word.
