Die uitstalling, Vertical Presence, is \u2019n viering van die ruimtelike benutting, fisieke grootsheid en sintuiglikheid van sy werk.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_109859\" style=\"width: 389px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-109859\" class=\" wp-image-109859\" src=\"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/rooirose\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Villa_Abstract-Forms_1965_steel_94cm.jpg\" alt=\"Sien Edoardo Villa se beeldhouwerk in Johannesburg\" width=\"379\" height=\"570\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-109859\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Abstract Forms, 1965<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Die beelde word in The Atrium gehuisves en vloei oor na True Design en in Keyes-weg sodat verbygangers dit ook kan geniet.<\/p>\n<p>Villa het in die veertigs as krygsgevangene na Suid-Afrika gekom en na die Tweede W\u00eareldoorlog hier aangebly.<\/p>\n<p>Hy het in onderhoude verwys na die geleenthede en ruimte vir die jeug in Suid-Afrika teenoor die geslote kontinentale lewe in Europa. Hier kon hy nuwe moontlikhede ontgin.<\/p>\n<p>Van sy vroe\u00eb werke soos Seated Figure (1953) en Vertical Form (1958) sal te sien wees. Hy was sedert die 60\u2019s deel van die Amadlosi-groep saam met onder andere Sydney Kumalo, Cecily Sash en Cecil Skotnes. &#8220;Amadlosi&#8221; beteken die gees van die voorvaders. Die invloed van Afrika was duidelik in sy werke soos Heraldic Figure (1963), Masai Girl (1963) en Head (1964) te sien. In die sewentigs het hy op grootskaal met staal gewerk en sy beeldhouwerk, Tree (1977), is \u2019n goeie voorbeeld.
