The Lions Club of Tokai held its fifth annual “Walk In Heels” event. It took place at the Blue Route Mall shopping center. The event was on Saturday, 22 March. The event raised awareness about gender-based violence (GBV). It also collected funds for charity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event was timed to align with International Women’s Day on 8 March. Men stepped into high heels to show support for GBV victims. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Participants were sponsored to walk. All proceeds went to the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF). It is a global disaster relief fund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Backed by club members and the community, the “Walk In Heels Warriors” raised an impressive R36 300. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event highlighted the ongoing fight against GBV and encouraged men to take an active part in creating awareness. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We want to show that GBV is not just a women’s issue, it affects everyone. Walking in heels is simple. It is a powerful way to raise awareness. It also sparks conversations,” said Mark Rossouw, Media chair of the Lions Club of Tokai. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
With each passing year, the event grows in impact and participation, proving that small actions can create change. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Lions Club of Tokai remains committed to drive awareness and support for those affected by GBV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
