As work on Cape Town’s state-of-the-art Sky Circle at Govan Mbeki Road (M9) and Jan Smuts Drive (M17) in Lansdowne continues, authorities are warning truck drivers of the height restrictions at the construction site. \r<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A temporary steel bridge has been installed over the northbound carriageway of Jan Smuts Drive to provide safe passage for construction workers. The height restriction is 4,3m and will be in place for the duration of the construction of the Sky Circle. \r<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Warning gantries have been installed on all four approaches to the temporary traffic circle. This freestanding elevated Sky Circle forms part of the roll-out of the MyCiTi bus service to connect Mitchells Plain and Khayelitsha with Wynberg and Claremont.\r<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We want to caution road users and truck drivers to note the height restriction as we have already had a few close encounters at this bridge. Commuters and pedestrians must please be extra cautious, and drivers must adhere to the signage and the instructions of the flag personnel at the site,” said the City’s Mayco member for urban mobility, Rob Quintas.\r<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The disruptions and delays to traffic flow are frustrating; and I know this is adding to the time you spend on the road.
