The court case against a Wynberg woman who stands accused of the hit-and-run accident which claimed the life of Olivia Sieff, 18, has been remanded to Friday 10 June for further investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Onesimo Makhubalo, 31, briefly appeared in the Wynberg Magistrate\u2019s Court today (Tuesday 25 May) on charges of culpable homicide, failure to stop at an accident scene and failure to help police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sieff died at the scene of the accident in the early hours of Sunday 31 January. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Claremont resident was reportedly crossing the street when she was hit by a vehicle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When police officers responded to the complaint, they found that the driver of the car that collided with the young model was not on site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Lieutenant Colonel Marnus Fourie, Vispol Head of Claremont Police Station, local CCTV footage was used to trace and identify the vehicle involved in the accident<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today was Makhubalo\u2019s second appearance in court after her arrest as a suspect on Tuesday 1 February and then being charged two days later. On Friday 4 February, Makhubalo appeared before the Wynberg Magistrate\u2019s Court where she was released on R3 000 bail with the condition that she reports to Wynberg Police Station every Friday between 18:00 and 21:00.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During today\u2019s court proceedings, the prosecutor \u2013 stating that the post-mortem report, as well as video footage, was still outstanding \u2013 asked for the case to be remanded for further investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makhubalo\u2019s new counsel submitted that they would like to apply for the bail conditions to be amended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The court ruled that the application would be heard at the next court hearing (Friday 10 June) and that, in the meantime, the bail stood. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
