The family and friends of Bradwyn Adendorf (20) \u2013 who was stabbed to death at a street party \u2013 filled the Simon\u2019s Town courtroom during the bail application of a man suspected of the murder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Thursday 29 September, Nathaniel Petersen, who stands accused of murder, abandoned his bail application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The court heard that post mortem results were still outstanding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Magistrate Francios Van Eeden postponed the case to Monday 3 November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Outside court, holding posters with \u201cNo bail\u201d and \u201cWe stand for Bradwyn\u201d the victim\u2019s mother Annette Overmeyer said she was happy that the accused remained in jail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMy eldest son Bradwyn was my best friend. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHe was an amazing person and he didn\u2019t like trouble. He would avoid trouble in any way he could and he would just walk away if there was trouble.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Recalling the day they received the devastating news, Overmeyer said the last time she spoke to Bradwyn he told her that he would be home before midnight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOn the day of 31 July he was at a street bash in Ocean View.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHe grew up in the area and he knew a lot of people. It was around 21:00 and I sent him a message and he said that he was in Lapland and that he would be home before midnight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAround 01:30 one of my friends came and knocked on our door and our gate and she called my husband and I.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHe said; \u2018Your son has been stabbed.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhen we got to the scene he was already gone. It\u2019s actually very heartbreaking,\u201d she said tearfully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHe was a very good person.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The traumatised mom added that she never knew the accused but believed that he was known to her son.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHe wasn\u2019t friends with him but he was friends with his girlfriend. Something went wrong there because he (Bradwyn) was apparently just speaking to her when the guy came and stabbed him.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She firmly opposed bail and hoped that he remained behind bars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhat they do is threaten people and then the witnesses don\u2019t want to talk or they get killed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Adendorf\u2019s aunt could not hold back the tears as she described her nephew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis has now opened up everything, I thought I am over it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jolene Klein said her nephew was not a gangster and that she wanted answers on why he was murdered. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe were very close and I feel so sad. My thing is that he was not a gangster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI just want to know why this guy stabbed him because if Bradwyn would argue with friends he would walk away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
