The search for an unknown man believed to have gone missing in the surf at Three Anchor Bay yesterday (7 October) got under this morning. The search was halted yesterday evening due to darkness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Table Bay station commander Robyn Silverstone says NSRI Table Bay duty crew was activated following a drowning at about 15:50.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

Silverstone says: \u201cAn eye witness reported seeing a man disappearing under water after appearing to be in difficulty in the surf. Later, additional eye-witnesses came forward with the same.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n

\n<\/p>

\n

He says the NSRI rescue swimmers, the police and several emergency services responded. They were assisted by EMS\/AMS Skymed rescue helicopter. However, their efforts were hampered by big sea swells and eventually halted by the darkness.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Search teams returned to the scene this morning and efforts to locate the body are still underway.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cNo one has come forward to report any person missing that may be related to this incident,\u201d says Silverstone.<\/p>\n

\n<\/p>

\n

Nicola Jowell, Ward 54 councillor, says: \u201cThere are currently no details as to his identity. Two weeks ago, law enforcement were able to rescue a man who had walked into the sea at Rocklands.\u201d<\/p>\n
