Brig Jan Alexander, the new Station Commander at Mitchell\u2019s Plain Police Station, comes with a wealth of experience but is looking forward to building a very strong partnership within and with the community of Mitchell\u2019s Plain. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He started on Thursday 1 December.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the festive season upon us, he is appealing to residents in the greater Mitchell\u2019s Plain to be more vigilant at all times and to make sure to report any suspicious behaviour and actions at the police station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMy advice to everyone during this festive season is to be crime-aware and to the parents of Mitchell\u2019s Plain, ensure that you take good care of your children. Some of us are going on holiday and here are some safety tips to keep your home and possessions safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAlways make sure that your home is properly locked and secured. You can make use of the help of your neighbours know to you and always have a trusted individual stay in your home while you are away,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deployments<\/strong><\/link-app1><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Alexander completed his police training in 1988 at the Bishop Lavis Police Training College.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was afterwards deployed to different police stations in the country before starting office in Mitchell\u2019s Plain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Nyanga Police Station.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    The challenges in Mitchell\u2019s Plain are murders, robberies and gangsterism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Committed to strong partnerships<\/strong><\/link-app1><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Peoples Post<\/em><\/span> asked him to describe himself in five words and explain why he chose those words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \u201cI\u2019ll start with discipline. Over the course of my career, I have learned that discipline is one of the key elements to being successful as a police officer in the fight against crime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \u201cI am committed to building strong partnerships with people and in this case, to the residents of Mitchell\u2019s Plain. I am also determined. as determination is of utmost importance when I set out to achieve goals and results. I am dedicated and I believe that focus and dedication are attributes that bring change when striving to attain enormous change. Lastly, I am motivated because being motivated and positive has always brought me positive results and outcomes,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    What people don\u2019t know about him is that he is also a minister who specialises in spiritual counselling. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    To relax he takes part in fun walks and outdoor activities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
