Averaging an overall pass mark of 75,64%, the Class of 2022 Reddam House Constantia learners were all smiles last week when they received their 2022 National Senior Certificate (NSC) Results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
People\u2019s Post <\/em><\/span>visited the school early Wednesday 18 January and saw first-hand how the now former learners\u2019 faces lit up on receiving their marks. The private school\u2019s three top performers with nine distinctions each are Lauren Williams, Isabelle Wilson and Rebecca Monk. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Reflecting on last year, Lauren acknowledges that matric was challenging. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cBut overall, it was an excellent year where I learned my true potential and enjoyed every lesson that the year threw at me.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n Lauren has applied to study Actuarial Science and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Cape Town (UCT).<\/p>\n\n\n\n The last 2022 NSC examination paper was written on Wednesday 7 December. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Chloe Sneddon, who will soon be heading off to Stellenbosch University to study BCom Law, says she wrote her last matric subject on Thursday 24 November. She says the wait was nerve-racking. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt was always on your mind. Over Christmas and New Year it kind of drifted away because we were so busy with the festivities and then as soon as it got to mid-January, it all started, like oh my gosh, this is really a reality. I am getting my marks so soon. I just kept telling myself, it\u2019s done. There\u2019s nothing we can do. There\u2019s no point in worrying now.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Emma Giles, who is listed on the IEB\u2019s (Independent Examinations Board) Commendable Achievement List for achieving a national ranking within the top 5% in five subjects, believes that when it comes to preparing for the NSC final exams, balance is key.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI worked really hard but I also played a lot of sports, music was one of my subjects, and I think that is actually more important. I had a social life. It allowed me to focus on my studies and not get stressed out.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Emma, who will be going to Stellenbosch to study a BSc degree, says she has noticed that it is not about how much you work, it is about the value you take out of it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAnd the value that you put into it. So use your time well and do the things that you are passionate about rather than what you have been told you need to do well in and then the rest falls into place.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Doing exactly that is Erin Harding who will be studying Bachelor of Arts in film and literature at UCT. She too is on the school\u2019s top achiever list. Erin says she has always gravitated toward creativity more than the sciences<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI just want to pursue something that I am incredibly passionate about more as opposed to something that the world tells me I should be looking into. I have always known for me it has to be something with film and writing or art.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Erin says she is looking forward to getting immersed in her subject matter and student life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI love people, I absolutely love interacting with new individuals and learning their stories and discovering all of that. So I am excited to be exposed to different characters and their world views and their perspectives.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Oliver Benn, who is enrolled at UCT, also can\u2019t wait for the academic year to start. He will be studying business sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI love learning so I\u2019m really excited to get into uni and start learning again.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Oliver says another aspect he is looking forward to is making new friends and expanding his circle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cObviously, having gone to Reddam, it\u2019s quite a privileged environment, and I\u2019m very happy that I got to have that experience but it\u2019s also good to understand other people\u2019s living experiences. And then, on top of that, you have international students and I love learning about new cultures. So I\u2019m really excited to meet people from different nationalities and different ethnicities because I think it\u2019s the coolest thing getting to know other
