A Retreat teenager has a \u201conce in a lifetime\u201d opportunity to train with the Scottish league champions Celtic Football Club in Scotland. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tylor Sapud (15), who \u201ceats, sleeps and drinks soccer\u201d, started his football journey at the age of six.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLast year, Tylor surprised us when he was selected for the u-16 Cape District Football Association Board team which made us even prouder than we already are of all his achievements,\u201d says his mother Salita Sapud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis was on a new level for us, we took him for trials at Hellenic Football Club and after a month of being nervous, anxious and all the uncertainty they finally told us that he had made the team.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After playing two games for Hellenic Football Club, Tylor scored one goal against Young Bafana academy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are now proud that Tylor has the opportunity of going to Scotland, for two weeks in December 2023,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The teenager will have the opportunity to train and play with the Scottish league champions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is a rare opportunity for a 15-year-old boy from the backstreets of Retreat. Tylor\u2019s hard work, discipline and desire deserve this opportunity and as a family, we would love to see this become a reality,\u201d says Sapud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2020, the teenager was inducted into the Hall of Fame at Southfield Primary School for the most \u201coutstanding learner\u201d in Grade 7 and a few years later, he was the top achiever in Mathematics at Plumstead High School in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tercia Sapud, his aunt, says with the opportunity to play in Scotland her nephew would be representing the family and the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe\u2019s doing it for our community. So as a family, we are extremely proud of him. Not many young boys have this kind of opportunity and I believe whatever his going to learn he will bring it back home and teach the youth.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To make this trip a reality the family needs to raise R44 500.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
