Learners at Ukhanyo Primary School in Masiphumelele received R36 000 towards their art club on Friday 2 June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Masi Sports, a youth upliftment programme that uses life skills and sport to deliver a holistic education, received a donation from Noordhoek Open Studios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Aimee Kruger, chair of the Studios, says they are actively involved in Ukhanyo Art Club through their partnership with Masi Sports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNoordhoek Open Studios is where everyone can come and open up and chat and do art. We also decided that it was a great opportunity to raise funds for our community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She added that Masi Sports was initially chosen as a charity to support and it was the third time funds were raised for the programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThree years ago, we started raising funds for Masi Sports, this is the third time, and we are also quite involved in the actual art club. This is going to be a continued relationship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMasi Sports incorporated an art club, the Ukhanyo Art Club, of which there are 1 700 learners. It is an art club where they are doing creative projects and the biggest expense for the art club is materials, but Masi Sports will be allocating the funds.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kruger adds that the Noordhoek Open Studios charges an entrance fee to use their space, which is how the funds were raised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, Vince Van der Bijl, former cricket legend and founder of Masi Sports, says the partnership with Noordhoek Open Studios has been excellent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
